Works

Films and still images of possible futures for the Moon and NASA

Each work shows one possible future in detail: what gets built, who does the work, what it costs in time and money, and what it changes for the mission. Several are also made for IGLOO immersive rooms, where the picture fills every wall. Most were made in October 2026.

The Moon base and the lunar program

One possible lunar program from 2036 to 2046, from a south pole base and its reactor to science camps, far side relays, and a Space Academy, made as films, six-wall immersive room versions, and still images.

A six-minute film for NASA leadership on building a south pole Moon base

A six-minute film that starts with Apollo 11 and Artemis II, shows a Moon base at the lunar south pole built in three phases, and sets out the choices NASA would face.

A film for a six-wall immersive room showing a Moon base built in three phases

A narrated film for a six-wall IGLOO room that shows a south pole Moon base from its first landing, to an outpost, to a full base.

JPL science support in the 2030s

Twelve scenarios, each following one JPL team member with one problem, with before-and-after measurements of what changes when support arrives on time. Six are finished films; six are in production.

A technician catches mismatched spacecraft connectors and teaches colleagues the check

A JPL technician stops two mismatched spacecraft connectors before they are joined. Her check is written down, and four colleagues learn it in two weeks.

A rover team finds a reachable south pole site for a water measurement

A rover cannot reach the first site chosen for a water measurement at the lunar south pole. Analysis of the rover's position finds a second site it can reach.

A tank test shows when an under-ice robot can send data to the surface

A test in a water tank shows that an under-ice robot's stored readings reach the surface 3 times in 10 while it moves and 10 times in 10 when it stops.

Engineers find where a Mars image was delayed on its way to a scientist

Engineers trace a Mars dust-storm image that was delayed between the antenna and the science team, so the scientist receives it before her planning deadline.

A Mars rover is tested on choosing rock targets without waiting for Earth

A ground test checks whether a Mars rover can pick the rock boundary a geologist needs by itself, instead of waiting for the next instructions from Earth.
